Refund Policy
Our deposit terms and refund conditions
We understand that life changes, and we want to be clear about our refund policy from the start. Please read this carefully before placing a deposit.
Deposits
A non-refundable deposit of $300 is required to reserve a puppy. This deposit:
- Holds the puppy exclusively for you
- Is applied to the final adoption price
- Confirms your serious commitment to adoption
- Takes the puppy off our available list
All deposits are non-refundable. Once placed, the deposit cannot be returned regardless of circumstance.
When Refunds May Apply
While deposits are non-refundable, full refunds (or replacement puppy) may be issued in these specific situations:
- The puppy passes away before pickup due to circumstances on our end
- A serious health issue is discovered before transfer (verified by our vet)
- We’re unable to deliver the puppy you reserved for reasons beyond your control
Transfer Option
If you can no longer adopt the puppy you’ve reserved, we’ll do our best to transfer your deposit to another available puppy from a current or upcoming litter (subject to availability). This must be requested in writing within 30 days.
Full Payment
The remaining balance is due in full before pickup or delivery. Accepted payment methods include cash, certified check, Zelle, and bank transfers. Personal checks are not accepted for final payments.

Adoption Contract Terms
What you agree to when adopting from us
When you adopt a Lone Star Chi, you’re entering into an agreement that ensures the lifelong wellbeing of your puppy. By signing our adoption contract, you agree to the following commitments.
Your Commitments as Owner
- Provide proper food, shelter, exercise, and veterinary care
- Never abandon, sell, or transfer the puppy to a shelter
- Keep current on all required vaccinations and preventative care
- Provide a safe, loving indoor home environment
- Contact us first if you can no longer care for the puppy
Spay/Neuter Requirements
All puppies sold as pets (non-breeding) must be spayed or neutered by 12 months of age. AKC papers will be released upon proof of completion. This requirement helps prevent unwanted litters and maintains the integrity of our breeding program.
Puppies sold with full breeding rights are available only to approved buyers and come with separate terms and pricing.
Return Policy
If at any point you’re unable to keep your Lone Star Chi, we require that you return the puppy to us rather than rehoming or surrendering to a shelter. This applies for the lifetime of the dog. We’ll work with you to find a solution.
Our puppies are family forever — and that means our door is always open if circumstances change.
Breeding Restrictions
Unless purchased with explicit breeding rights, our puppies may not be used for breeding purposes. Any unauthorized breeding voids the health guarantee and may result in legal action under the contract.
Stay In Touch
We love updates! While not required, we strongly encourage adoptive families to share photos and milestones. Your Lone Star Chi will always be part of our extended family, and we’re here for support throughout their life.
